As a registered and professional therapist, I do not find it an invasion of my privacy when clients like you ask me questions about myself!

Is it okay that I don't ask my therapist how they are?
Is it normal for you not to ask how I am, your therapist? It is not rude for you to focus on yourself in therapy and not ask how I'm doing.

Do therapists think about their clients after sessions?
I can't speak for other therapists, but for myself - I 100% think of my clients after we finish sessions!
I genuinely care about my clients. When I'm in sessions with them they have my full attention, undivided for the hour. Even little moments during the week for me are sprinkled by thoughts of my clients.

Will counselling help me?
Will counselling help me? Counselling is not always the solution that will help. But - hand on heart - I can say both as a professional counsellor and someone who's been and out of counselling for years myself, that counselling can be really, really helpful.

What is a free consultation call in therapy?
A free consultation call with me is all about me getting to understand you, where you're at, where you are at with your family or in your relationship, or if you're not in a relationship and you would like to be, whatever it is, what is on your mind and what you might be looking for from support with me.

What does it mean that anyone can call themselves a therapist?
Unfortunately, psychotherapy and counselling is an unprotected profession, which means anybody can call themselves a therapist or a counsellor. Is therapy tax deductible?
Therapy is tax deductible because its you continued and professional development. Woohoo. Happy days. Therapy helps to improve your life and

How are therapy notes protected?
Your therapy notes are super, super protected. They're only read and written and read by your therapist. Only a judge is able to read them i

Why do therapists always change their availability?
No rejection meant in it. It's just the awkward, uncomfortable, unpredictable reality of being a therapist.

Counselling vs Psychotherapy
One difference is - arguably - the level of technical skill and education that each requires and, two, what will happen in the session.

Why does my therapist stare at my hands?
As a therapist, I get asked this question quite a lot and understandably it makes people feel creeped out and overly watched.

Charging £70 an hour, are therapists just "in it" for the money?
Broken down: A fully-booked therapist in the UK might earn £51,000. £17,000 can go to business expenses and another £8,000 on taxes. A grea

Where to start in therapy?
People will say, "Lily, how will I know where will I start?" There's no right or wrong place to start in therapy.

Therapy without talking
A person doesn't have to talk to feel, or understand or make changes. In fact there are many types of therapy that do not involve talking.

Can therapy make you worse?
Can therapy make you worse?

Can I swear in therapy sessions?
I don't want my clients to apologies for the words they use. If talking freely means swearing, I actually want them to swear!

What coaching is and isn't?
What coaching is and isn't. Coaching is about goals. Coaching is about taking action and making progress!

Vulnerability and self-awareness are the first steps (not talking)
I dislike hearing that talking is the first step to making a change. It's simplistic and reduces the client, always a huge red flag.
